Google Celebrates Art Clokey’s 90th Birthday

Technology (Gctnews24.blogspot.com) Google is back with yet one more interesting doodle. The popular search engine is celebrating the 90th birthday of Arthur `Art` Clokey today.

Clokey was the first artist to popularize stop movement and clay moving picture. He made a film titled ‘Gumbasia’ in the year 1955 as an research and got great hold up from his lecturer.


The master artist along with his wife Ruth, shaped 'Gumby'. The iconic nature and his horse Pokey were a enormous hit on television and appear with 'Howdy Doody Show' and 'The Adventures of Gumby'.

Hollywood actor Eddie Murphy got so enthused by the character that he parody Gumby in the 1980s on `Saturday Night Live`. And in the 1990s more and new number of people in progress following the character with the release of `Gumby: The Movie.

Clokey also fashioned `Davey and Goliath`. And to have a good time Clokey, Google has paid its tribute in its own doodle way!

Google estimates it has created more than 900 doodles since 1998, with 270 of them running in 2010 and about 200 in 2011.

Ghazal king Jagjit Singh Dies at 70

The 70-year-old singer also suffer from hypertension.

He gave voice to classic numbers like "Kal chaudhavin ki raat", "Honthon se chhoo lo tum", "Koi ye kaise bataaye", "Woh kaagaz ki kashti", "Chitthi Na Koi Sandesh", "Tum itna jo muskura rahe ho", "Yeh daulat bhi le lo, yeh shohrat bhi le lo", "Tumko dekha toh ye khayal aaya", "Jhuki jhuki si nazar", "Shaam se aankh mein namin si hai", "Badi nazuk hai", "Hoshwaalon ko khabar kya" and "Kiska chehra".

Popularly known as "The Ghazal King", he gained acclaim together with his wife in the 1970s and 1980s, as the first ever successful duo act (husband-wife) in the history of record Indian music.

His popular ghazals include, Meri zindagi kisi aur ki, mere naam ka koi aur hai, Apni marzi se kahan apne safar ke hum hain, Wo jo hum mein tumme qaraar tha, Patta-patta boota-boota haal hamaara jaane hai, Hoshwalo ko khabar, etc.

Padma Bridge Project on Hold

Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith informed journalists of the WB move on Monday, saying, "The government will investigate into the allegations of corruption."

Famed Pianist Roger Williams Passes Away at 87

Shamim, Ivy Meet Party Seniors

Politics (Gctnews24.blogspot.com) Senior leaders of Awami League have unconnectedly met with ex-MP Shamim Osman and former Narayanganj municipality mayor Selina Hayat Ivy to decide one of them as a party applicant in the Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) polls.

They met the seniors at the parliament's deputy leader Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury's Gulshan abode on Sunday morning.

DSE Share Prices Struggle

Business (Gctnews24.com) Trading on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has begin with the all-purpose index down by 80 points in the opportunity hour of the week's first business day.

The index lost 80.06 points or 1.39 percent to 5647.73 points approximately 12:01pm on Sunday.

Of the 226 issues trade until then, only 28 highly developed, 193 declined and five remained unaffected.
The turnover stood at Tk 754 million.

The index plummeted 57.68 points or 1.00 percent to 5670.11 around 11:38 am.

The stock market has been on a low for roughly a year now, and no determine by regulators, government or major investors seems to be able to prop the market up.

Spiraling fall in the last two-and-a-half months has shaved 1000 points off the DSE general index.

The index has been falling since January. It turned around once in July but has since faced a massive fall.
